Initial Balance update: smarter verdicts, cleaner prices

Pushed an update to the Initial Balance study — the session-levels dashboard I broke down in my first post. Two upgrades in here I've wanted for a while, plus the smaller fixes from the last couple of point releases. It's now on v1.1.2.

New to this one? Start with the full breakdown of what the study does, then come back for what's changed.

A smarter value-area read

The VA Verdict had a blind spot. If the day opened inside prior value, it called the day balanced and told you to fade the edges — and it kept saying that even if price then broke out of value and ran. On a range day that's fine; on a day that turns into a trend, it's exactly the wrong read.

Now it catches that. When a balanced open breaks out of prior value and holds outside, the verdict flips to LEFT VALUE HIGHER / LOWER — fade off, so it stops suggesting a fade the moment the market has clearly left value behind. Step back into value and the fade read comes right back. It keeps the verdict honest when a quiet open turns into a real move.

Clean prices on any market

The derived levels — the 25 / 50 / 75% quartiles inside the IB and the range extensions — now round automatically to each instrument's tick size. No more levels landing on prices that don't actually exist on your market; they sit on real, tradeable ticks whether you're on ES, gold, crude, or anything else. It's toggleable in General settings if you ever want the raw math instead.

If you're coming from an older copy, this build also carries the recent improvements: a unique study identity so it won't clash with other studies, RTH-first-touch sweep detection (a prior-day level only counts as swept if it was taken during the session, not overnight), and the prior close added to the Sweeps row.

How to update

Same as installing: quit MotiveWave, drop the new .jar into your MotiveWave Extensions folder replacing the old one, and relaunch. That's it — you're on v1.1.2.

The levels tell you where, the verdicts tell you what — but only your plan tells you whether.

For the record: this is an informational tool for educational purposes, not financial advice. The levels and verdicts are context for your own decisions, not calls. Futures carry substantial risk of loss — trade your own plan.
