Initial Balance update: live-forming levels & session-wide sweeps

Another round of improvements to the Initial Balance study — now on v2.2. This batch is all about making the study more useful live in a session, not just after the fact. Three things worth calling out.

A 30-minute MNQ chart with the Initial Balance study. The corner data table shows the new v2.2 rows: a Sweeps row reading PDL, PDC with check marks, and a live Price vs pVA row reading INSIDE value, sitting alongside the Open vs pVA and VA Verdict rows.
v2.2 in action — the Sweeps row caught PDL and PDC together, and the new Price vs pVA row reads price live against prior value. (Click to enlarge.)

Levels that build in real time

The current session's IB now updates as the opening range forms. It used to wait for each bar to close, so a fresh high mid-range would leave the IBH line sitting stale. Now the IB high and low — plus the 25 / 50 / 75% levels and every extension — track each new high and low tick by tick, then lock at their final values the moment the IB window ends. You can actually watch the range build.

Sweeps that don't miss

The Sweeps row used to only check the opening-range bar. Now it flags a key level (OH, OL, PDH, PDL, PDC) the moment any regular-hours bar wicks through it, anywhere in the session — and it updates live, listing multiple swept levels together, each with a check. A level taken out at noon gets caught now, not just one swept at the open.

A live "Price vs pVA" row

New row: it shows where price is right now versus the prior session's value area — ABOVE, INSIDE, or BELOW — and it flips the instant price crosses back in or out. It sits next to the existing VA Verdict, which stays a sticky read of the developing session bias. So you get both at a glance: your live position, and the story the day is telling. Toggle it on under the Rows settings.

How to update

Quit MotiveWave, drop the new .jar into your MotiveWave Extensions folder replacing the old one, relaunch, and re-add the study so it loads clean. You're on v2.2.

The levels tell you where, the verdicts tell you what — but only your plan tells you whether.
